SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/21/14 -- Shorai Inc., a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of prismatic cell, lithium iron phosphate power sports batteries, today announced a continued strategic partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing Teams (CGRT) for the 2014 IndyCar Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS). In NASCAR, CGRT fields the No. 1 team of Jamie McMurray and the No. 42 Team of Kyle Larson. McMurray has consistently been a top contender for both race wins and the NSCS Championship. This marks the third year that CGRT will use Shorai LFX batteries in all of their NSCS race cars. Shorai LFX batteries provide superior performance and faster starting capabilities while weighing significantly less than traditional lead-acid batteries delivering both McMurray and Larson a key competitive edge on the track.
"The ability for us to work with Chip Ganassi Racing Teams for another year is thrilling for everyone here at Shorai. We are confident in our batteries and their performance in NASCAR's premier series and in power sports applications. Shorai LFX batteries not only weigh significantly less than traditional lead-acid batteries, but they also offer uncompromising power for faster starts and better overall performance," said Kevin Riley, Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Shorai. "We know this will be another very successful year of NASCAR and INDYCAR racing for both Shorai and Chip Ganassi Racing."
"I am very excited to know that Shorai LFX batteries will be supporting the entire Chip Ganassi Racing Teams organization that we will have the Shorai logo on our car at the Sonoma race as an associate sponsor," said Jamie McMurray, driver of the No. 1 car for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. "Our success last year using Shorai LFX is a testament to the quality and workmanship put into all of Shorai's products both on and off the track. We fully expect to be even more successful this year using their products."
"As the newest Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Sprint Cup team member, I am thrilled to be a part of the Shorai-Ganassi partnership," said Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 42 car for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates driver Jamie McMurray drives the No. 1 Chevrolet SS and has recorded seven wins, 10 poles, 45 top-five finishes and 108 top-10 finishes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He is one of only three drivers to have won the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 in a single season. Rookie Kyle Larson takes over the No. 42 Car and will compete for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year honors against a large class of rookie drivers. Larson was the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion and also won the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year honors while recording 17 top-10 finishes.
Being an official partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing Teams speaks volumes of the superior performance of Shorai LFX batteries and their reputation on and off the track. Primarily known for their motorcycle and power sports applications, Shorai's performance in NASCAR's top racing circuit solidifies their place as the best lithium iron power sports battery on the market. As part of an associate sponsorship deal, Shorai will have their logo featured on McMurray's No. 1 Chevrolet SS during the June 22 Toyota Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.
