Network users are demanding telcos and service providers to provide infrastructure to deploy, start, tear-down and scale network applications on a dynamic basis. To meet these needs and reduce infrastructure and operational costs telcos and service providers are implementing and deploying telco-grade cloud and NFV architectures. Telco-grade clouds are an evolution of enterprise clouds with additional requirements of high-availability, reliability and high-performance networking. NFV architectures require a virtualized, high-performance networking platform that supports high-availability and reliability.
MV Cloud enables a rapid deployment of a robust, highly reliable, high performance cloud platform that is open, extensible and rich in application ecosystem. MontaVista's MV Cloud Platform is built upon a highly available Carrier Grade Linux Operating System that is optimized for networking performance. MV Cloud makes use of standard IT API, a first in Carrier Linux, extends a massive ecosystem of 3rd party software such as Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK), Open Data Plane (ODP), OpenStack, and Open DayLight. In addition, the MV Cloud platform provides features that take into account multiple operational aspects when deploying a cloud, or NFV solution. Some of these aspects include important features like Enhanced Live Migration for example, which allows for in service migration of Virtual Functions (VF) without service disruption.
"MontaVista has been a leader in deploying highly available, carrier grade solutions into the market for over a decade. We are building upon our proven products and expertise to build a new cloud platform. MV Cloud is a platform that takes into account multiple layers of the software stack, when helping telco and service providers transition their network to a Cloud or NFV architecture," says Monear Jalal, Senior Director of Marketing for MontaVista, "Telco and service providers can be assured of a reliable, flexible and extensible Cloud Platform when it comes to making that transition."
