GCT® Semiconductor, a leading designer and supplier of advanced 4G mobile semiconductor solutions, in collaboration with Direct Beam, a global supplier of advanced wireless software and technology, and Alpha Networks, a global leader in the networking ODM/OEM industry, today announced the availability of a new revolutionary low-cost, high performance, fixed 4G LTE indoor and outdoor wireless router designed to provide superior wireless performance and increase subscriber satisfaction. The new router’s unique features reduce the installation setup time, OpEx and churn for service providers.
This unique LTE router combines GCT’s highly integrated LTE chip, GDM7243, with Direct Beam’s patented advanced software algorithms and technology. With this revolutionary technology, the LTE router’s coverage and speed are up to ten times higher than any other router available today. In addition, the device automatically performs self-beams steering adjustments when changes in the RF environment occur, therefore maximizing the best link performance at all times.
Alpha Network’s indoor and outdoor products have been developed based on GCT and Direct Beam’s patented technology and are available today for various LTE band combinations. The LTE router will be demonstrated at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at GCT’s hospitality suite in Hall 6, 6O11MR, as well as Alpha Networks’ suite in Hall 1, 1A18MR.
“We are pleased to be working closely with Direct Beam and Alpha Networks to combine our extensive LTE expertise to develop this cutting-edge new router,” said Alex Sum, GCT’s vice president of sales and marketing. “This new router features an innovative new concept that allows exceptional wireless link performance and up to ten times broader range and throughput, while maintaining low BOM cost.”
“We are very proud of our partnership with GCT Semiconductor and Alpha Networks,” said Erez Marom, CEO of Direct Beam. “Our patented technology provides game-changing coverage and speed performance improvements for LTE mobile routers. GCT and Alpha Networks’ LTE product line, based on Direct Beam technology inside, allows wireless service providers to significantly increase the service quality of their fixed LTE wireless broadband service, thus improving customer satisfaction and reducing churn. Most importantly, the products enable advanced value added services such as over the top (OTT) video content, which will generate incremental revenue.”

Extracting business value from Internet of Things (IoT) data doesn’t happen overnight. There are several requirements that must be satisfied, including IoT device enablement, data analysis, real-time detection of complex events and automated orchestration of actions. Unfortunately, too many companies fall short in achieving their business goals by implementing incomplete solutions or not focusing on tangible use cases. In his general session at @ThingsExpo, Dave McCarthy, Director of Products...

We are always online. We access our data, our finances, work, and various services on the Internet. But we live in a congested world of information in which the roads were built two decades ago. The quest for better, faster Internet routing has been around for a decade, but nobody solved this problem. We’ve seen band-aid approaches like CDNs that attack a niche's slice of static content part of the Internet, but that’s it. It does not address the dynamic services-based Internet of today. It does...
