Scott Barber shares his T4APM lifecycle monitoring and trending framework designed to both dramatically reduce the risk of late-stage performance surprises and to streamline late-lifecycle load testing. When it's critical to deliver a well-performing application on-time, the first time, the traditional process of load testing the release-candidate is simply too little, too late. Nick Olivo demonstrates how to tap into the native properties and methods of applications. When starting to create automated tests, many test automators realize, to their dismay, that some of the objects within the application aren't as easy to work with as expected – buttons on ribbons aren't easily recognized, there is difficulty in figuring out how to detect tree nodes or controls embedded within a grid. He also discusses automating certain actions outside your GUI.
Scott Barber is a well-respected leader in the advancement of software testing practices, industry activist and load testing celebrity of sorts. He is best known as one of the most energetic and entertaining speakers in the industry as well as a prolific author of several books including “Performance Testing Guidance for Web Applications,” “Beautiful Testing,” “How to Reduce the Cost of Testing,” and “Web Load Testing for Dummies” as well as the author of over 100 articles on his blog, “Peak Performance.” Follow Scott Barber on Twitter @sbarber. As Director of Pre-Sales Engineering for SmartBear, Nick Olivo helps people decide on a daily basis what test automation tools are right for them. He held testing automation roles at Pragmatech Software and SkillSoft Corporation.
In January, SmartBear announced a new version of TestComplete, the company’s open test platform for easily creating, maintaining, and executing automated tests for desktop, Web, mobile and client-server software applications. DevOps is being widely accepted (if not fully adopted) as essential in enterprise IT. But as Enterprise DevOps gains maturity, expands scope, and increases velocity, the need for data-driven decisions across teams becomes more acute. DevOps teams in any modern business must wrangle the ‘digital exhaust’ from the delivery toolchain, "pervasive" and "cognitive" computing, APIs and services, mobile devices and applications, the Internet of Things, and now even blockchain. In this power panel at @...

More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smar...
