Mr. Crager will lead a discussion entitled "Winning the Battle for Growth" on the second day of the conference (February 27, 2014) from 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. He will moderate as a panel of chief investment officers from nationally recognized banks speak about successful growth strategies. The panelists will also recommend best practices for eliciting referrals, surrounding clients with experts, leveraging in-house commercial and retail relationships, and other aspects of wealth management.

"As a leading provider of advisory platform services to over 40 banks ranging from top 10 national institutions to mid-size regional banks and small community banks, Envestnet understands the challenges banks face as they struggle to maintain their market shares while adjusting to more stringent regulations," said Mr. Crager. "The ABA Wealth Management and Trust Conference provides a valuable opportunity to learn from the industry's thought leaders and share best practices that our bank clients are utilizing to grow their wealth management businesses."

Envestnet acquired the assets of Prudential Investments' Wealth Management Solutions (WMS) division in July 2013. In the months since the acquisition's completion, the business, now known as Envestnet | WMS, is working with financial institutions to give wealth management clients a consistent experience across all the organizations' channels.

"Banks need to offer a more profound wealth management experience to remain competitive in today's evolving marketplace," said John Yackel, Managing Director, Envestnet | WMS. "The combination of our practice management consultancy and Envestnet's technology, workflow and efficiency solutions can bring banks closer to unifying their various wealth management businesses, and position them for scalable long-term growth."

Envestnet | WMS offers financial institutions access to an integrated wealth platform, which helps construct and manage sophisticated portfolio solutions across an entire account life cycle. The business also provides extensive research services from Envestnet | PMC®, Envestnet's portfolio consulting group, and assembles advisor development support teams which are dedicated solely to increasing assets for select client organizations.

In addition, Envestnet | WMS helps financial firms envision, design, and implement their wealth management offerings, and helps optimize their workflow to improve growth and profitability, particularly in the area of unified managed account (UMA) trading. To that end, it has developed a desktop-accessible Overlay Portfolio Management console that helps wealth managers efficiently build customized client portfolios that consider both proprietary and open-architecture investment solutions.

Today we can collect lots and lots of performance data. We build beautiful dashboards and even have fancy query languages to access and transform the data. Still performance data is a secret language only a couple of people understand. In IT, we sometimes coin terms for things before we know exactly what they are and how they’ll be used. The resulting terms may capture a common set of aspirations and goals – as “cloud” did broadly for on-demand, self-service, and flexible computing. But such a term can also lump together diverse and even competing practices, technologies, and priorities to the point where important distinctions are glossed over and lost.

The Internet of Things (IoT) promises to simplify and streamline our lives by automating routine tasks that distract us from our goals. This promise is based on the ubiquitous deployment of smart, connected devices that link everything from industrial control systems to automobiles to refrigerators.
