The Ritz-Carlton Montreal Is Recognised by Critics and Travellers for Exceptional Service

Luxury Hotel in Montreal Combines Historic Grace With Contemporary Sensibility

MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 02/26/14 -- When people quote the adage, "You can't please everyone," they are not talking about the Ritz-Carlton Montréal. Following a $200-million renovation and a legacy stretching back to 1912, the luxury Montréal hotel has won over everybody from TripAdvisor travellers to industry veterans. The proof is in the numerous awards Montréal's grand dame has received: just two months in to 2014, and the property has earned no fewer than five awards, many highlighting it as among the best hotels in the country.

Case in point is U.S. News & World Report, which identified the Ritz-Carlton Montréal as the No. 1 property among the 10 Best Hotels in Canada 2014. Citing the boutique hotel's superior service and enviable downtown location in the heart of Montréal's Golden Square Mile, the publication also noted the hotel's many notable accolades from years past. Its AAA Five Diamond status, for instance, is a highly coveted honour that the property once again achieved in 2014. With more than 29,000 properties reviewed by AAA for purposes of ranking, only 0.4 percent of them earn this prestigious status.

Many aspects are taken into consideration for AAA's evaluation, and the Ritz-Carlton Montréal excels in every category, starting with its elegant design. Stylishly traditional, the hotel successfully marries its classical pedigree with contemporary nuances. Traditional furnishings might wear modern colours, for example, while finishes display a tasteful timelessness in woods, metallic and glass.

Yet modern conveniences are more than accounted for as well. The luxury hotel's 129 guest rooms and suites feature technologies like motion sensors to activate lights, heated bathroom floors and both sheer and blackout curtains, all of which ensure the ultimate guest experience.

And travellers have responded with glowing reviews. TripAdvisor's users recently awarded the downtown Montréal hotel fourth place among Canada's top 25 luxury hotels and seventh place among Canada's top 25 hotels overall. Ranking within the top 25 of both categories is a first for the hotel, and one that reflects its commitment to service.

Of course, the hotel's many exceptional features help win over travellers as well. Its indoor saltwater pool on the rooftop affords some of the city's best views, and the 12,000 square feet of event space features cutting-edge technology along with attentive, personalised service. Plus the restaurant, Maison Boulud, invites visitors to taste for themselves what's possible from a three-Michelin-star chef. Within the open-concept kitchen, Chef Daniel Boulud's team creates French-inspired dishes, often with local and artisanal ingredients.

Pleasing everybody may not be impossible, but it is an achievement reserved for the exceptional.

Just over a week ago I received a long and loud sustained applause for a presentation I delivered at this year’s Cloud Expo in Santa Clara. I was extremely pleased with the turnout and had some very good conversations with many of the attendees. Over the next few days I had many more meaningful conversations and was not only happy with the results but also learned a few new things. Here is everything I learned in those three days distilled into three short points.
As organizations realize the scope of the Internet of Things, gaining key insights from Big Data, through the use of advanced analytics, becomes crucial. However, IoT also creates the need for petabyte scale storage of data from millions of devices. A new type of Storage is required which seamlessly integrates robust data analytics with massive scale. These storage systems will act as “smart systems” provide in-place analytics that speed discovery and enable businesses to quickly derive meaningf...
DevOps is about increasing efficiency, but nothing is more inefficient than building the same application twice. However, this is a routine occurrence with enterprise applications that need both a rich desktop web interface and strong mobile support. With recent technological advances from Isomorphic Software and others, rich desktop and tuned mobile experiences can now be created with a single codebase – without compromising functionality, performance or usability. In his session at DevOps Su...

Continuous processes around the development and deployment of applications are both impacted by -- and a benefit to -- the Internet of Things trend. Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
In today's enterprise, digital transformation represents organizational change even more so than technology change, as customer preferences and behavior drive end-to-end transformation across lines of business as well as IT. To capitalize on the ubiquitous disruption driving this transformation, companies must be able to innovate at an increasingly rapid pace. Traditional approaches for driving innovation are now woefully inadequate for keeping up with the breadth of disruption and change facin...
The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics, wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more. Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in all these areas. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound...
