HORBURY, England, Feb. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Joshua Note, host of The Note Show, recently interviewed up-and-coming Israeli filmmaker Yaniv Berman (http://yanivberman.com/), who is making his first foray into feature films with "Land of the Little People." To say that the film courts controversy would be an understatement. By unapologetically showcasing issues like violence and desensitization in Israeli society, Berman will force his viewers to look in the mirror and perhaps think differently about their world. The full episode is available here: http://www.thenoteshow.com/episode-10-land-little-people-yaniv-berman/.
"People in Israel today are angrier and more frustrated," explained Berman. "Conflict has become too much a part of our routine, and there's less understanding of different points of view. People are losing hope that the fighting in Gaza and the West Bank will ever end."
The plot of "Land of the Little People" revolves around a group of neighborhood children who enjoy total freedom after a nameless, meaningless war breaks out. An abandoned army facility becomes their "base" for the childhood games and fantasies; those fantasies become realized when a pair of deserting soldiers hide out on the children's turf, and the children fight to take back what's theirs.
When asked how he would classify the film's genre, Berman responded that the crew's goal is to create realism and excitement, but also to make a powerful comment on the state of affairs in Israel. Filming begins this summer; location scouting and casting are already complete, and Berman mentioned in the interview that rehearsals are underway.
Berman's previous work includes "The Alpha Diaries," a first-person documentary shot while he fulfilled his annual obligations to the Israeli military. The 65-minute film won the 2007 Best Documentary award at the Zagreb Film Festival. Berman is currently in the MFA program at Tel-Aviv University.
Berman, along with Producer Tony Copti and Executive Producer Ziv Kitaro, have created a Kickstarter campaign in the hopes of further raising the production values of an already professional creative operation. If successful, the campaign will make possible better special effects, better equipment, props and makeup, and more work and attention throughout post-production. Even as cloud and managed services grow increasingly central to business strategy and performance, challenges remain. The biggest sticking point for companies seeking to capitalize on the cloud is data security. Keeping data safe is an issue in any computing environment, and it has been a focus since the earliest days of the cloud revolution. Understandably so: a lot can go wrong when you allow valuable information to live outside the firewall. Recent revelations about government snooping, along...

Enterprises are turning to the hybrid cloud to drive greater scalability and cost-effectiveness. But enterprises should beware as the definition of “policy” varies wildly. Some say it’s the ability to control the resources apps’ use or where the apps run. Others view policy as governing the permissions and delivering security. Policy is all of that and more. In his session at 16th Cloud Expo, Derek Collison, founder and CEO of Apcera, explained what policy is, he showed how policy should be arch...

The last decade was about virtual machines, but the next one is about containers. Containers enable a service to run on any host at any time. Traditional tools are starting to show cracks because they were not designed for this level of application portability. Now is the time to look at new ways to deploy and manage applications at scale. In his session at @DevOpsSummit, Brian “Redbeard” Harrington, a principal architect at CoreOS, will examine how CoreOS helps teams run in production. Attende...

Agile, which started in the development organization, has gradually expanded into other areas downstream - namely IT and Operations. Teams – then teams of teams – have streamlined processes, improved feedback loops and driven a much faster pace into IT departments which have had profound effects on the entire organization. In his session at DevOps Summit, Anders Wallgren, Chief Technology Officer of Electric Cloud, will discuss how DevOps and Continuous Delivery have emerged to help connect dev...

Countless business models have spawned from the IaaS industry. Resell Web hosting, blogs, public cloud, and on and on. With the overwhelming amount of tools available to us, it's sometimes easy to overlook that many of them are just new skins of resources we've had for a long time. In his General Session at 16th Cloud Expo, Phil Jackson, Lead Technology Evangelist at SoftLayer, broke down what we've got to work with and discuss the benefits and pitfalls to discover how we can best use them to d...
