Extenua Extends Fast, Secure File Transfers with SilverSHielD 6.1 Software

Latest version of award-winning SilverSHielD allows administrators to create a PCI or HIPAA compliant file transfer system

Extenua, Inc., a developer of enterprise software that simplifies and secures the use of cloud technologies, today announced the general availability of SilverSHielD 6.1. SilverSHielD is Secure Shell (SSH) and SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) server software for Windows. It features SSH2 password, interactive and public-key authentication methods, fully supports forwarding tunnels and SFTP subsystem, along with state-of-the-art virtual folders management. The intuitive management console makes it extremely easy to configure and maintain fast, secure file transfers for organizations of all sizes, including those who must meet stringent compliance requirements.

SilverSHielD software allows users to create an easy-to-use, powerful and reliable SSH2 and SFTP server for the Windows operating system. SilverSHielD users can create a PCI or HIPAA compliant file transfer system, a backup Cisco UC platform, or simply and securely transfer files between different locations.

The new SilverSHielD version 6.1 includes a major redesign of its socket management subsystem to increase file server efficiency through lower and better memory usage. File transfer speeds are now 10% to 15% faster. Session establishment and cleanup speeds have also improved.

"Boosting performance with SilverSHielD 6.1 is important because when systems administrators have to keep a file server up and running, it's all about speed and how many concurrent sessions you can handle without affecting your server's stability or performance," said Federico Simonetti, Extenua's CTO. "SilverSHielD is among the fastest secure file servers and its resource consumption is as low as possible."

SilverSHielD's security features include PKI authentication with multiple keys per user, Active Directory integration, advanced user and virtual folder security rules. It's powerful because it can automatically run scripts when certain events occur. Events can include zip files, send emails, perform custom authentication, and more.
