Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/v9wjl8/emergency) has announced the addition of the "Emergency Communication Services Market in the US 2012-2016" report to their offering.
The analysts forecast the Emergency Communication Service market in the US to grow at a CAGR of 6.18 percent over the period 2012-2016. One of the key factors contributing to this market growth is the deployment of a nationwide public safety broadband network. The Emergency Communication Service market in the US has also been witnessing the increasing use of wireless next-generation emergency communication services. However, the high price of emergency communication network devices could pose a challenge to the growth of this market.
The key vendors dominating this space are CommScope Inc., RedSky Technology Inc., TeleCommunication System Inc., and West Corp.
The other vendors mentioned in the report are 911 Inc., Akimeka LLC, AT&T Public Safety Solutions, Avaya Inc., Avtec Inc., Cassidian Communications Inc., Cellular Specialties Inc., Computer Information Systems Inc., HigherGround Inc., Microvoice Corp., Mission Critical Partners Inc., MobileTrec Inc., SLC Global LLC, Solacom Technologies Inc., Spillman Technologies Inc., TKC Consulting Inc., WSC Inc., and Zetron Inc.
Commenting on the report, an analyst from the Telecom team said: ''The legacy 9-1-1 system was designed based on telephone technologies and so only provided voice-based emergency communication service. But as people began making use of technology and communication devices in different methods, the US government realized the requirement for an advanced system for accessing emergency care. Hence, the US government passed the ENHANCE 9-1-1 law in 2004, a part of which included the NG9-1-1 project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2013. This advanced 911 service helps users communicate by making voice-calls, sending data, video, or images. Wireless communication service penetration in the US is very high and most users are using the wireless next-generation emergency communication service. Almost 70 percent of the calls made are from mobile handheld devices. Thus, an increased use of wireless next-generation emergency communication services is an emerging trend noticed in the market.''
The US government passed a law in February 2012 for its deployment based on the recommendation provided by the 9/11 commission, and sanctioned a fund of US$2 billion for the initial rollout process of the project.
