Clear Ballot Group is proud to welcome Steve Trout, former Oregon State Election Director, to the team as Director of Election Innovation. Trout will bring significant election experience to Clear Ballot and play a crucial role in introducing the company’s innovative technology to election officials across the country. “As election jurisdictions around the country struggle to fund new voting systems while improving their speed, accuracy and transparency, Steve’s election experience at both the state and county level gives him a unique view into the need for new technology in elections,” said Clear Ballot CEO, Larry Moore.
Steve was hired in 2009 as Oregon’s State Election Director at which time he led the administration of all aspects of elections and campaign finance in the state. During his tenure, Steve implemented a successful online voter registration system, utilized tablets for the first time in elections, and managed Help America Vote Act (HAVA) programs to improve operations at the county level. As the former Senior Elections Counsel to the California Secretary of State, and the Assistant Registrar of Voters in California’s San Bernardino County, Steve will bring his expertise in the industry to Clear Ballot to promote innovation and transparency in elections.
“The public demands and deserves better, less costly election systems. We in the election industry have been dreaming of the day when a company will respond with a system that delivers greater transparency, increased speed, and a way to reduce, if not eliminate, the need for costly manual recounts," said Steve. "I am excited to join a team that will bring elections into the 21st Century.”
