Today, TSL – the largest single-profession social network in the world, with 3.3 million registered teachers and hundreds of thousands of pieces of education content – announced the acquisition of Bay-Area based Wikispaces, creator of some of the most widely used online collaboration tools in the U.S. education sector. The combined platforms will support 1.4 million registered K-12 teachers in the U.S. Together, the two platforms create the world’s largest online professional network within the world’s largest profession. The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, will compare the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, e...
