Futronic Launches FS64 FBI EBTS/F Certified Ten Print Scanner

HONG KONG, March 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Futronic Technology Company Limited, a reputable manufacturer of optical fingerprint scanners, announces today the commercial release of FS64 FBI EBTS/F Certified Ten Print Scanner.

FS64 is a fingerprint scanner that can capture four flat fingerprints at a time. By capturing the four fingers of each hand and both thumbs together, ten fingerprints of a person can be captured in about 10 seconds. FS64 can also capture rolling fingerprint images. Rolling fingerprints are usually used in forensic science and criminal investigations. FS64 is a high quality and low-cost solution for fingerprint enrollment and identification in various applications including national elections, biometric data collection for national identity card issuing, etc. When FS64 is used in these applications it can speed up the process by capturing large number of fingerprints in a short period of time. Furthermore, the image quality of the captured fingerprint is guaranteed.

FS64 was certified by the FBI to be compliant with the EBTS/F Image Quality Specification for "Identification Flats Systems" and "Live Scan Systems." EBTS/F is a widely-accepted standard in today's biometric market. Many government tenders require a fingerprint scanner to have this certification before it can participate to bid.

The fingerprint image captured by FS64 can be packed into an ANSI-381 or ISO19794-4 interchangeable format by using the Enrollment Kit software provided by Futronic. A lot of other software is also available including WSQ compression, NFIQ image quality check and a full feature capture demo. The capture demo shows the control of the built-in 10 bi-color LEDs, acoustic buzzer and 2 programmable function keys. Program source codes of the demo software are provided as an example for the developer to customize their application. Customers who bought FS64 are allowed to use and distribute the software free of charge.

Futronic provides a modular form of FS64 which is called FS65. FS65 is the same as FS64 but without the plastic shell. It is suitable for embedded applications such as a standalone portable voter registration system that can be carried to remote areas for voter registration.
