NEW YORK, March 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Two artists, two different skill sets, one creation – this is the idea behind Fotolia's third season of TEN. Following a successful second season (with over 300,000 downloads during the initial 24-hour period and over 1M visitors), Fotolia is adding a new spin to its creative and educational TEN project – splitting up ten internationally renowned artists into five artistic pairs (one photographer and one designer). Together, they will create an original digital artwork that depicts their vision of the future. The first duo, photographer Eric Pare from Quebec, and designer Mike Campau of Michigan, will present the fruits of their collaborative labor, "Creating her own future". A PSD of their artwork can be downloaded free for 24 hours on Monday, March 10th at www.tenbyfotolia.com.
Followers can download the PSD file of "Creating her own future" complete with layers, effects, photographic meter settings, and more, as well as the Fotolia source files, free for 24 hours on Monday, March 10th, by going to www.tenbyfotolia.com. Users can watch a free "making-of" tutorial video, as the artists share their techniques and creative processes. The photo used to create the image, as well as 10 other photos created during the shoot will also be available for sale on the www.fotolia.com. Light photographer, Eric Pare, and detailed designer Mike Campau join forces
Originally from Montreal, photographer Eric Pare is a well-known expert in light-painting, bullet time and stop-motion photography techniques. Despite his minimalist approach, light is central to his work, and is the focal point of all his creations. Says Pare: "I am influenced by my environment. I am very sensitive to light reflections on people's skin. I try to bring out the best in them, simply through the different shapes created by light." When asked about his artistic vision, Pare explained, "For me, it's not about creating a technically perfect image, as much as it is about conveying an emotion."
Campau likes to define himself as a "photo-designer", because he combines many different techniques in his work, such as photography, illustration and CGI (computer-generated imagery). But talent alone did not get him where he is today. The University of Michigan graduate worked for over 15 years in ad agencies, as well as with celebrities such as Tracy Morgan, Mike Tyson, Roger Daltry, and big clients such as Chevrolet, Ford, Pepsi, Sony, and more. Campau believes that talent is not an end in itself, "Good work comes from years of practice and many failures. Mental strength is very important to artists, but the most important quality is passion."
Joint creation blends feeling, passion, and technical perfection
Their joint art piece, "Creating her own future", blends Pare's captivating light work with Campau's careful attention to detail. "The future-related theme instantly made me think of bringing to life an extraordinary character;" explains Pare, "one that is open to interpretation and whom no one can identify with." Their piece presents a seemingly fragile woman, sitting on the earth, emitting an incredible power. Aware that she can shape her future, she is letting her creativity flow – represented by the light coming from her hand. Her creativity also represents her lifeline and defense against the monotone world she is in.
The idea of working together as a pair was immediately exciting for both artists. "This is an excellent way to meet other artists and photographers that share the same passion," confides Campau. For Pare, it brought a new creative inspiration: "I've never worked with someone who was able to push my photography so far. I am grateful to Mike, because since this collaboration, I have also started to add external elements to my creations, whereas before, I hardly ever touched up my images."
TEN Contest: Challenge Eric Pare and Mike Campau starting March 12
Starting on March 12, Fotolia is launching an international contest for designers and photographers, which will be launched on Facebook and accessible at www.tenbyfotolia.com. Professionals and amateurs alike will have the chance to challenge all five TEN duos. Designers will be asked to present their interpretation of Campau's design, and photographers will be asked to submit their best shots taken using Pare's techniques, which will be explained in detail in the making-of video.
Many great prizes are being offered to the winners, such as Wacom tablets, subscriptions to Adobe Creative Cloud, Roland VersaStudio BN-20 printers, Exaprint prints, and more. Participants have until March 31st to upload their entry to the Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/TenCollection. Entries will be selected based on public votes, as well as a jury of experts. The winners will be announced on April 8th.

More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smar...

Regulatory requirements exist to promote the controlled sharing of information, while protecting the privacy and/or security of the information.
