AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 03/05/14 -- Umbel, a smart data company that helps digital businesses identify, monetize and grow premium audiences, is hosting the Umbel + Vox Media Party on the first night of SXSW, Friday, March 7, at Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater, with co-host Vox Media and sponsors AdColony and AT&T.

The high-profile event features musical performances by indie rock superstars Local Natives and DJ Chicken George. The event will be catered by the W Hotel and Republic Tequila, and promises attendees a true taste of Austin and SXSW.

"As an official technology partner of SXSW and a company proud of our Austin headquarters, we are thrilled to be part of this year's event from every angle, ranging from our work managing the SXSW Guest Pass List, production of the party and participation in the trade show and Startup Crawl," said H.O. Maycotte, CEO and founder of Umbel. "As a smart data revolutionary, we couldn't be prouder to host our national customer base here and showcase SXSW and the city for what they represent, a culture of innovation."

Doors to the party will open at 8pm. Attendees are strongly encouraged to arrive early for the best chance at admission; SXSW registrants will receive priority access.

In this strange new world where more and more power is drawn from business technology, companies are effectively straddling two paths on the road to innovation and transformation into digital enterprises. The first path is the heritage trail – with “legacy” technology forming the background. Here, extant technologies are transformed by core IT teams to provide more API-driven approaches. Legacy systems can restrict companies that are transitioning into digital enterprises. To truly become a lead...

The session is centered around the tracing of systems on cloud using technologies like ebpf. The goal is to talk about what this technology is all about and what purpose it serves. In his session at 21st Cloud Expo, Shashank Jain, Development Architect at SAP, will touch upon concepts of observability in the cloud and also some of the challenges we have. Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.
