On February 28, 2014, CEMEX SAB de CV (CEMEX) announced the conversions of c. $280 million of its 4.875% Convertible Subordinated Notes due 2015 (Notes). According to the Company, the Notes are expected to be exchanged for an estimated 27.6 million American Depository Shares (ADSs) of CEMEX. CEMEX advised that no cash will be paid to holders of these Notes in connection with these conversions. Fernando A. González, Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration, and CFO of CEMEX, said, "This transaction contributes to the strengthening of our capital structure. It supports our stated objectives of reducing debt and interest costs and reduces our short term contingent refinancing requirements."
