United Allergy Services Launches Mobile Healthcare App To Encourage Patient Medication Adherence

'myAllergyPal' Allows Patients Undergoing Immunotherapy Treatment to Track Symptoms, Medication and Medical Appointments

SAN ANTONIO, March 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- United Allergy Services (UAS), a leading healthcare services company that enables family physicians, pediatricians and health systems to deliver safe and effective allergy testing and customized immunotherapy services, today announced myAllergyPal, an innovative mobile application that enables patients to track home-based immunotherapy treatment progress.

Immunotherapy is the only treatment proven to address the underlying cause of allergic reactions and provide long-lasting relief; however, maximum relief requires medication compliance. For many seasonal and perennial allergy sufferers, immunotherapy shots can be administered at home eliminating the need to travel to the physician's office for each and every injection. While the course of immunotherapy varies by individual, patients who maintain their treatment regime usually experience results within the first six to eight months, with long-term allergy symptom relief possible anywhere between three and five years.

myAllergyPal empowers patients to take control of their personal health and ultimately feel better. Accessible on a smartphone or tablet device, the application includes an injection log that details a patient's progress through the various immunotherapy vials, injection numbers and doses, a list of the patient's unique allergens, as well as a symptom tracker. Patients using the application receive reminders of follow-up appointments with information about and directions to their doctor's office.
