All Eyes on BFLD - Minnesota Eye Consultants "Vision News Now" Network Approval

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 03/07/14 -- Broadcast Live Digital Corp. (OTCQB: BFLD).

Broadcast Live Digital Corp. has been given the green light after a successful 9 month pilot in one of North America's premier ophthalmology practices. BFLD will provide all waiting room meducation and medutainment in Minnesota Eye Consultants (MEC) in Bloomington, MN.

MEC, with 5 locations, 13 MD's and 11 OD's, MEC services the greater Minneapolis area and sees more than 85,000 patients per year. This consortium consists of the most recognized leaders in ophthalmology today, dedicated to providing superior patient care while pursuing significant research in LASIK laser vision correction, refractive surgery, cataract and glaucoma treatment, oculoplastics and total eye care. Their mission: to enrich each patient's quality of life through research and innovative methods of enhancing images. Vision News Now closes the loop by pre-conditioning the patient in the comfort of the waiting room.

Candy Simerson, President/COO of Minnesota Eye Consultants states, "We started working with BFLD and the Vision News Now network in 2013 after growing frustrated with the challenges of having to program and maintain our own content using a system that was complex and expensive. We have saved both time & money since switching to BFLD's VNN platform. We now have reliable content to share with our patients as they are waiting for clinic appointments or surgery, whether it be procedure or technology education, practice promotions, or entertainment and news features. It has been a significant improvement to our overall patient experience."

Matthew Kerner, BFLD, VP Business of Development adds, "BFLD has created a unique approach with a distinctively different role for "Digital Out of Home" positioning within the waiting room of vision practices. By delivering content that is engaging and informative, the patient understands the fundamentals of eye care in a non-threatening fashion. This leads to an educated patient ready to make better decisions once with the doctor. We understand the value of preparing content that is professional while simply helping the practice get the right message across to their patients," he adds. BFLD and the Vision News Now team have multiple pilots in place throughout the USA that will lead to immediate activation of new systems and tremendous growth opportunities over the next several years.

Microservices are a very exciting architectural approach that many organizations are looking to as a way to accelerate innovation. Microservices promise to allow teams to move away from monolithic "ball of mud" systems, but the reality is that, in the vast majority of organizations, different projects and technologies will continue to be developed at different speeds. How to handle the dependencies between these disparate systems with different iteration cycles? Consider the "canoncial problem"...
Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.

I recently attended and was a speaker at the 4th International Internet of @ThingsExpo at the Santa Clara Convention Center. I also had the opportunity to attend this event last year and I wrote a blog from that show talking about how the “Enterprise Impact of IoT” was a key theme of last year’s show. I was curious to see if the same theme would still resonate 365 days later and what, if any, changes I would see in the content presented.
