OTTAWA, March 10, 2014 /CNW/ - Canada is blessed with many talented non-fiction authors who share their experiences, insights, and passion for writing with readers at home and abroad, and I am thrilled that the Charles Taylor Foundation recognizes their remarkable achievements. Every year, the RBC Taylor Prize celebrates excellence in Canadian non-fiction writing by honouring an outstanding English-language author.
I am proud to congratulate this year's winner, Thomas King, for The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America. I would also like to applaud the other finalists: Charlotte Gray for The Massey Murder: A Maid, Her Master, and the Trial That Shocked a Country, J.B. MacKinnon for The Once and Future World: Nature As It Was, As It Is, As It Could Be, Graeme Smith for The Dogs Are Eating Them Now: Our War in Afghanistan and David Stouck for Arthur Erickson: An Architect's Life.
On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I commend the Charles Taylor Foundation on its efforts to recognize excellence among Canadian non-fiction writers.
