OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 03/10/14 -- Today, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) is inviting young Canadians to take part in Global Money Week.
Celebrated every year in the second week of March, this worldwide event highlights the importance of teaching children and youth about money, to help them shape their future and become responsible economic citizens. Activities are held to encourage participants to share ideas, express their views and learn more about saving, budgeting and economic systems.
Young Canadians can follow Global Money Week's various global activities through online live streaming, web chats, webinars and social networks.
- Global Money Week is an initiative of Child & Youth Finance International, a non-profit organization headquartered in Amsterdam.
- Launched in 2012, Child & Youth Finance International's network includes 125 countries and has reached approximately 18 million children and youth.
- In 2013, 80 countries and nearly 400 organizations took part in Global Money Week.
"It's never too early to take an interest in personal finances and learn the money basics. Financial education gives young people a big head start-it gives them the opportunity to practice good financial habits that will last a lifetime."
