Competitive Service Providers to See Automated Service Deployment in Real Time as Transition Networks Brings Converge™ EMS to COMPTEL PLUS

Transition Networks Inc., the fiber access technology expert, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-GM: JCS), today announced it will demonstrate its Converge™ EMS service deployment automation platform at the COMPTEL PLUS convention and expo at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, March 16-19.

Located in booth 223, Transition Networks will demonstrate to carriers how service deployment can be done in minutes via its Converge EMS software. Converge EMS is a Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Carrier Ethernet (CE) 2.0 standards-based, fully integrated service provisioning platform that automates the complete service lifecycle for rapid service activation and quicker time to revenue.

Converge enables design, configuration, execution and reporting of Carrier Ethernet services. This includes RFC 2544 service activation tests on Transition Networks CE 2.0 network interface devices (NIDs) and access switches. This easy-to-use feature allows operators to create reusable specs for running simultaneous throughput, delay and loss measurements while significantly reducing test and turn-up time of circuits.

“We continue to enhance the Converge™ EMS platform and COMPTEL PLUS will be the first conference where we’ll showcase its new capabilities,” said Jon Collins, senior product manager for Transition Networks. “We are excited to display our Converge EMS and other Carrier Ethernet 2.0 solutions for attendees and share how we’re making service provider deployment easier than ever.”

On display at the show will be the company’s S4140 10G Ethernet demarcation device, which enables service providers to address growing bandwidth needs for next-generation services. Also at the booth will be the company’s two new 10G Carrier Ethernet switches, S4212 and S4224, that aggregate traffic from demarcation devices for efficient transport to the core network.

COMPTEL PLUS is the preeminent networking event for innovative communications companies and their supplier partners. Held twice a year, COMPTEL PLUS attracted over 180 exhibitors and approximately 3,820 attendees to the 2013 events. For more information, visit http://www.comptelplus.org.

DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and...
