CHICAGO, March 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Northstar Illinois, a majority-owned subsidiary of GTECH S.p.A. today announced that Tim Simonson has been appointed as Northstar's Chief Executive Officer.
In making the announcement, Northstar Chairman and GTECH Americas President and CEO Jaymin Patel said, "Tim has been with GTECH for more than 10 years and is credited with helping to drive the Company's business development and growth opportunities. He is a proven leader who will work in partnership with the Illinois Lottery to drive their success and build on the progress made thus far."
Prior to joining Northstar, Simonson served as a Regional Vice President for GTECH Americas, guiding the development of GTECH's strategy in various regions. In his new role, Simonson will assume responsibility for continuing the business relationship with the Illinois Lottery and increasing sales and profits for the state of Illinois.
Former Northstar CEO, Marco Tasso, will lead a new division at GTECH, Lottery Management Services, with responsibility for overseeing all lottery private management service contracts in North America. Simonson will report to Tasso who will continue to help guide Northstar activities as a member of the Northstar Board of Directors.

The appointment was effective March 2, 2014.
