Design Inspired, Outdoor Living Trends Take Full Advantage of Low Maintenance AZEK Building Products

SCRANTON, Pa., March 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As spring approaches and homeowners begin to plan vacations and leisure getaways, now more than ever, outdoor living spaces are becoming a focal point of warm weather entertainment.  With nearly 85% of all single family homes having an outdoor living area, it's easy to see why dreams of outdoor barbeques and relaxing summer nights take over.

According to the 2014 Residential Landscape Architecture Trends Survey conducted by the American Society of Landscape Architects, one of the hottest Outdoor Design Trends is having a Deck, Patio or Terrace.  For deck projects specifically, building with a durable, low maintenance material makes a great investment because enjoying the outdoors can be relaxing and luxurious given the right deck materials, designs and amenities.

AZEK Deck, the leading brand of low maintenance cellular pvc decking, comes in 17 colors ranging from neutral solids to rich earthy, variegated options. Stain- and scratch-resistance, along with a limited lifetime warranty, offers homeowners peace of mind. And, to complement AZEK Deck, low maintenance AZEK Rail is available in three popular styles and several colors.

Mixing colors of deck and rail is a popular design trend in 2014 as railing helps define the style of a deck and accentuate it more than any other design element.  AZEK Rail can be constructed using various infill options, including composite balusters in six colors, round or square black aluminum, glass panels, and even cable rail to allow a less obstructed view. Changing your deck design from classic to contemporary or practical to playful with a simple change in color or baluster selections is easy using any of these rail options.

Yet nothing creates after-dark ambience like the warm glow of perfectly balanced lighting integrated into an outdoor living space.  According to the ASLA Survey, 98.3% of respondents rated lighting as a desirable element of their deck to extend the entertainment long after the sun goes down. AZEK's lighting options integrate into the decking and railing to generate a subtle, inviting glow on the deck surface or from the railing.  AZEK also offers riser lights which emit a soft light to help improve stair safety.

Creating an outdoor space that is functional, beautiful and with the special personal touches will make a deck the perfect destination. For more inspiration, visit the AZEK Deck designer at www.azek.com/deckdesigner.
