ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Official approval for personnel to attend the 2014 Navy Opportunity Forum® was announced on 25 February - registration is free and the registration site is now open at www.navyopportunityforum.com. The 14th annual Navy Opportunity Forum® will be held June 2-4, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, VA. The 2014 Navy Opportunity Forum® provides a unique opportunity for attendees to cost effectively evaluate technology transitioning from the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. An invitation to attend the Forum is extended to acquisition sponsors, large defense contractors, equity investors, Fortune 500 companies, first and second tier suppliers, Navy personnel, Department of Defense and other federal employees, as well as congressional staff.
The Forum provides the platform to inspect and evaluate innovative technologies through small business presentations, exhibit booths and strategic one-on-one introduction meetings. Presentations will address technical capabilities, transition paths, and strategic goals of the firms. Additionally, the Forum will provide a speaking venue for top defense policy makers, and displays by the Navy Office of Research and Technology Applications (ORTA).
The SBIR/STTR technologies being presented at this year's Forum can be previewed on the Virtual Acquisition Showcase® (VAS) at http://www.virtualacquisitionshowcase.com. The VAS, which features 193 Navy sponsored projects, provides attendees plenty of time to research potential technology matches, perform due diligence and share findings with colleagues. Strategic one-on-one introduction meetings can be scheduled to obtain additional information about specific technologies.
The Navy Opportunity Forum® sets the stage for small businesses to provide solutions to Navy needs. The Forum seeks to put the right individuals in the place at the right time to uphold the goals of the Navy SBIR/STTR program to transition technology to the warfighter.
