MIAMI, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 03/20/14 -- According to a report by the Ralph Nader Research Institute that evaluated over 10,000 documents acquired through the Freedom of Information Act, drinking water in the U.S. contains more than 21,000 toxic chemicals that can cause cancer. There are many reasons for tap water contamination, including the improper use of household chemicals or agricultural runoff. The omnipresent use of man-made chemicals has increased to such a degree that traces of low-level Synthetic Organic Chemicals (SOCs) can be found in almost every public water supply system around the world. Due to the natural hydrological cycle, there is no such thing as "new" water, so chemicals in the water accumulate, leading to its increased toxicity. And while the Earth filters many natural contaminants, toxic SOCs remain in the water.
As a result of this, home water filters have become more popular in the last few years. The advantages are obvious: They increase the quality of tap water significantly and make bottled water redundant, thus saving a lot of unnecessary plastic that goes into the production of water bottles. Currently, more than 60 million plastic bottles from bottled water are produced, filled, transported and disposed of in the United States! And compared to bottled water, the quality of tap once a water filter is installed trumps the bottle: Home water filters, according to U.S. law, are required to document the purity of the water they produce, while the only FDA requirement to bottled water is, that it has to be as good as tap water. But the advantages are not limited to drinking water: More than twice the levels of chlorine and other SOCs enter the body through the skin and inhalation of steam while we take a shower, so filtering the water in the bathroom is highly advisable. Following the current trend of healthier and more sustainable living, Matt Argall, an avid entrepreneur, is looking into providing another water filter option for the limited US market.
One possibility Matt Argall is looking into is purchasing filters from China, where advanced filtration technologies have been on the rise in recent years. Focusing on filters for showers, fridges and faucets, China seems to be the way to go: Aside from state-of-the-art products, the manufacturing time of only three months is relatively short and the margins are highly profitable. At the same time water filters could still be sold at affordable prices, making them available to everybody, especially families. Being a dad himself, Matt knows how important good water is, especially for kids. Many of the crucial defense systems that protect the body from disease are not fully developed in children, making them much more sensitive to toxins in the water.
Matt Argall is a successful businessman and entrepreneur who lives in Miami with his wife and son. Born in Los Angeles, California, he spent most of his early childhood in Canada, before his family moved to Florida in 1988. There he started gaining business experience at only 17 years old, when he helped his best friend at the time to save a big online company. This early success story laid the groundwork for Argall's later success story that was fostered through his involvement in the Citizens Commission on Human Rights International, where he made many important contacts and learnt valuable lessons. Over the course of his career, Matt has founded numerous successful businesses and is always on the lookout for new ventures.

Web Real-Time Communication APIs have quickly revolutionized what browsers are capable of. In addition to video and audio streams, we can now bi-directionally send arbitrary data over WebRTC's PeerConnection Data Channels. With the advent of Progressive Web Apps and new hardware APIs such as WebBluetooh and WebUSB, we can finally enable users to stitch together the Internet of Things directly from their browsers while communicating privately and securely in a decentralized way.

While DevOps most critically and famously fosters collaboration, communication, and integration through cultural change, culture is more of an output than an input. In order to actively drive cultural evolution, organizations must make substantial organizational and process changes, and adopt new technologies, to encourage a DevOps culture. Moderated by Andi Mann, panelists discussed how to balance these three pillars of DevOps, where to focus attention (and resources), where organizations might...

The explosion of new web/cloud/IoT-based applications and the data they generate are transforming our world right before our eyes. In this rush to adopt these new technologies, organizations are often ignoring fundamental questions concerning who owns the data and failing to ask for permission to conduct invasive surveillance of their customers. Organizations that are not transparent about how their systems gather data telemetry without offering shared data ownership risk product rejection, regu...

Due of the rise of Hadoop, many enterprises are now deploying their first small clusters of 10 to 20 servers. At this small scale, the complexity of operating the cluster looks and feels like general data center servers. It is not until the clusters scale, as they inevitably do, when the pain caused by the exponential complexity becomes apparent. We've seen this problem occur time and time again. In his session at Big Data Expo, Greg Bruno, Vice President of Engineering and co-founder of StackIQ...
