With regard to the business drivers of CPM initiatives, Gartner states that "Corporate performance management suites facilitate efficient, compliant and transparent processes within the office of finance. They enable CFOs and other business leaders to effectively guide strategic direction and increase organizational agility."

With respect to cloud-based CPM deployments, the report adds that "This Magic Quadrant highlights capabilities in three primary areas of market evolution.
