With regard to the business drivers of CPM initiatives, Gartner states that "Corporate performance management suites facilitate efficient, compliant and transparent processes within the office of finance. They enable CFOs and other business leaders to effectively guide strategic direction and increase organizational agility."

With respect to cloud-based CPM deployments, the report adds that "This Magic Quadrant highlights capabilities in three primary areas of market evolution. In order of importance, they are the vendor's ability to provide a viable cloud-based (preferably multitenant SaaS) offering and demonstrate its ability to support cloud users. As the traction for cloud based CPM solutions accelerates, this becomes increasingly important."(ii)

"CPM customers have spoken. The Cloud is the inevitable future of the CPM market," said Dave Kellogg, CEO of Host Analytics. "The megavendors are trying to catch up by offering some hosted applications, but we believe that will never deliver the same customer success as Host Analytics' multi-tenant platform and our cloud-based business model."
