OTTAWA, March 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Employment and Social Development Canada
Today, the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, announced the appointment of Mr. Phillip Germain as Governor representing Saskatchewan on the Council of Governors of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS).
Mr. Germain is the Vice-President of Prevention and Employer Services for the Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board. He was an original director of Safe Manitoba and is currently an advisor with Safe Saskatchewan. His strong commitment to occupational health and safety is clearly shown through years of work experience and continual involvement in many councils, boards and committees.
This will be Mr. Germain's first appointment to the CCOHS; his term will last four years and includes the possibility of re-appointment.
- Established in 1978, the CCOHS promotes the physical, psychosocial and mental health of working Canadians by providing information, training, education, management systems and solutions that support health, safety and wellness programs.
A not-for-profit federal department corporation, the CCOHS is governed
by a tripartite council—representing government, employers and
labour—to ensure a balanced approach to workplace health and safety
