Christopher Whalen Joins Weiss Residential Research LLC Board of Advisors

NATICK, Mass., March 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Weiss Residential Research LLC (WRR) announced today that Christopher Whalen has joined the firm's board of advisers.  Whalen is an investment banker and author who lives in New York.  He will be advising WRR on business strategy and housing industry trends.  With more than 30 years of experience as an investment banker and analyst, Whalen is considered to be one of the leading US experts on the housing sector and financial institutions.

"We are really pleased to have the benefit of Christopher's experience and expertise on our advisory board," notes Founder and CEO Allan Weiss, who was one of the founders of Case Shiller Weiss and led that firm until it was sold in 2002. "As we commercialize our House Price Index and HomeVest Score products and apply these tools to investment strategies such as rent-to-own, we look forward to having the benefit of Chris' experience and market knowledge."

WRR is an industry pioneer in next generation home price analytics.  Building on the firm's unique expertise in repeat sales home price indexes, WRR has increased the resolution of market analysis by nearly 10,000-fold.  Specifically, WRR has created nearly 50 million home price indexes, one for each house, through the use of Big Data techniques, novel algorithms and by harnessing the power of massively parallel multi-CPU computing power.

"I am very excited about working with Allan and his team to commercialize the WRR House Price Indices and Market Maps," notes Whalen.  "The current offering of home price indices is really inadequate to describe the detail and diversity that is present in many cities and neighborhoods.  By creating home price indices for individual homes, WRR is able to provide enormous visibility for lenders, investors, policy makers and realtors when it comes to current home price valuations and the direction of future home prices."

According to Forrester Research, every business will become either a digital predator or digital prey by 2020. When it comes to cloud computing, the ability to turn massive amounts of compute cores on and off on demand sounds attractive to IT staff, who need to manage peaks and valleys in user activity. "Once customers get a year into their IoT deployments, they start to realize that they may have been shortsighted in the ways they built out their deployment and the key thing I see a lot of people looking at is - how can I take equipment data, pull it back in an IoT solution and show it in a dashboard," stated Dave McCarthy, Director of Products at Bsquare Corporation, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at @ThingsExpo, held November 1-3, 2016, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.

The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? The more business becomes digital the more stakeholders are interested in this data including how it relates to business. Some of these people have never used a monitoring tool before. They have a question on their mind like “How is my application doing” but no id...
