CARTERSVILLE, Ga., March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- January marked Tellus Science Museum's five year anniversary and today, they welcomed their one millionth visitor.
On Thursday, March 27, 2014 Calhoun Elementary School's 3rd grade walked through the front doors of Tellus and were greeted by a cheering staff wielding confetti cannons, goody bags, and a giant banner announcing their good fortune. Collectively, they were Tellus Science Museum's millionth visitor.
"We suspected the single millionth visitor might be hidden in one of our school programs. We couldn't bear the thought of disappointing the rest of the class, so we formulated a back-up plan to let them all be the millionth visitor," said Tellus Executive Director Jose Santamaria.
Each child received a bag of treats from the Tellus Store complete with an admission pass to return for another visit with a parent for free. As a final surprise, the students enjoyed an ice cream party in the Carter Davis Pavilion at Tellus before they headed back to school.
"The confetti was so fun! We can't wait to come back," said 3rd grader, Gabriel Howard.
"We never expected it. It's nice to be the millionth visitor," said Gabriel's grandfather, Bill Howard.
Next month, on Saturday evening April 26th, Tellus will host a Block Party to celebrate the milestone. The celebration will include food trucks inside the museum, an open bar, music, games and a silent auction to benefit the museum. Tickets for this unique fundraiser are available to guests 21 and over for $75 for one or $125 for two. To purchase online, visit www.tellusmuseum.org and click on Block Party or call Jessica Cantrell at (770) 606-5712.
