BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Digital Media announced today the addition of two new web series to its YouTube comedy channel, "Union Pool," as well as the continuation of the animated pop culture mash-up series "Tvoovies." The live-action comedy "Llama Cop" premieres April 1 and "Popcorn Addicts" premieres April 15. "Tvoovies" continues to air new episodes that include "Zero Dark 30 Rock" and "The Hangover of Thrones."
Starz Digital Media launched "Union Pool" in September 2013 as a destination for original comedy programming. New episodes launch every Tuesday and Thursday at www.youtube.com/unionpool.
"Union Pool has been so well-received over the past seven months that we are expanding our programming with more original content," said Mara Winokur, SVP, Digital for Starz Digital Media. "Tvoovies" has proven to be extremely popular and we look forward to offering more diverse content for our viewers."
Co-produced by Reckless Tortuga of "The Online Gamer" and MTV's "Extra Butter, Please" fame, "Popcorn Addicts" is an original sketch comedy series that parodies current blockbuster films and hit TV shows as well as fanboy culture. Upcoming episodes include "Assistants To The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," "The Genie Saga: Rubbing Lamp (a "Twilight" movie parody), "INERTIA from the creators of GRAVITY," and "Game of Thrones Charades." In the live-action comedy "Llama Cop," a by-the-book detective, Riggs Bauer (Walter Masterson of TV's "The Girl's Guide to Depravity"), is partnered with unpredictable rookie, Buddy Callahan. Buddy breaks all the rules, doesn't listen to orders, and happens to be a live llama. Can this mismatched pair join forces to bring down the crime syndicate that may be responsible for the death of Detective Bauer's partner? Created by Maximilian Clark and Masterson, "Llama Cop" is directed by Charlie Zwick and features Antonio D. Charity ("Showtime's "House of Lies"), Vanessa Lengies ("Mixology," "Glee"), Lauren Francesca (YouTube sensation "IWantMyLauren"), Sunny Maybry ("The Client List") and others.

Created by award winning LA-based producers Cosmic Toast Studios in partnership with Starz Digital Media, "Tvoovies" is a pop culture animated mash-up where hit television series collide with blockbuster films. Whip-smart, tongue-in-cheek and often outrageous, "Tvoovies" parodies the biggest titles in entertainment, and episodes include "The Walking Ted," "Zero Dark 30 Rock," and "The Hangover of Thrones." The original concept for "Tvoovies" was inspired by casual conversations on the popular social news site Reddit.

The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics, wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more. Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in all these areas. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound...

In today's enterprise, digital transformation represents organizational change even more so than technology change, as customer preferences and behavior drive end-to-end transformation across lines of business as well as IT. To capitalize on the ubiquitous disruption driving this transformation, companies must be able to innovate at an increasingly rapid pace. Traditional approaches for driving innovation are now woefully inadequate for keeping up with the breadth of disruption and change facin...

The cloud. Like a comic book superhero, there seems to be no problem it can’t fix or cost it can’t slash. Yet making the transition is not always easy and production environments are still largely on premise. Taking some practical and sensible steps to reduce risk can also help provide a basis for a successful cloud transition. A plethora of surveys from the likes of IDG and Gartner show that more than 70 percent of enterprises have deployed at least one or more cloud application or workload. Y...

Microservices are a very exciting architectural approach that many organizations are looking to as a way to accelerate innovation. Microservices promise to allow teams to move away from monolithic "ball of mud" systems, but the reality is that, in the vast majority of organizations, different projects and technologies will continue to be developed at different speeds. How to handle the dependencies between these disparate systems with different iteration cycles? Consider the "canoncial problem"...

I recently attended and was a speaker at the 4th International Internet of @ThingsExpo at the Santa Clara Convention Center. I also had the opportunity to attend this event last year and I wrote a blog from that show talking about how the “Enterprise Impact of IoT” was a key theme of last year’s show. I was curious to see if the same theme would still resonate 365 days later and what, if any, changes I would see in the content presented.

Cloud computing delivers on-demand resources that provide businesses with flexibility and cost-savings. The challenge in moving workloads to the cloud has been the cost and complexity of ensuring the initial and ongoing security and regulatory (PCI, HIPAA, FFIEC) compliance across private and public clouds. Manual security compliance is slow, prone to human error, and represents over 50% of the cost of managing cloud applications. Determining how to automate cloud security compliance is critical...
