EF Education First (EF), the world leader in language training for business, government and the education sector, announced today that it will participate in the speaker line up at the Gulf Education Conference in London.
The 4th Gulf Education Conference, taking place in London on 31st March and 1st April, will bring together Ministers, Higher Education leaders and senior practitioners from the UK and the Gulf region. The discussions at the conference will serve to guide the development of Higher Education in institutions and countries in the region.
EF's Carl-Johan Westring, Vice President of Global Business Development & Partnerships, will give a speech on the 1st April, about "Meeting the Needs of Students: Local Provision and Enabling Mobility". Mr Westring will share insight and best practice on both local education program provision and international student mobility enablement from his extensive experience of providing advice to governments and organizations around the world on education in general and language training in particular. He has designed several large-scale language training solutions, such as that for the Republic of Tatarstan but also for large-scale international events such as the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic/Paralympic Games and Rio 2016 Summer Olympic/Paralympic Games. Mr Westring will offer both strategic advice and propose practical, actionable solutions to participants so they can make the right decisions to enable Higher Education success in 2020.
Dr Rachel Baker, Director of Applied Linguistics Research and Development, will, under the topic "Education for Building a Research Capability", discuss the undisputed role of English as the lingua franca of global science; she will discuss its necessity as a tool to unlock and build research capabilities. Additionally, Dr. Baker will present the findings of the EF English Proficiency Index, which shows that the English level among adults around the world varies significantly, impacting both access to and creation of new research. She will also share insights into major research initiatives being undertaken within the EF Research Network. As the academic head for EF's Classroom Technology Experience team, which develops innovative digital materials and tools for high schools and universities, Dr. Baker will present some innovative learning solutions.
