CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/28/14 -- FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:FLY) ("FLYHT") reported today that it has received a Supplemental Type Certificate ("STC") for its Automated Flight Information Reporting System ("AFIRS(TM)") 228 on the ATR- 42/72 series aircraft from the National Civil Aviation Agency ("ANAC") of Brazil. ANAC is the agency responsible for the regulation and safety of civil aviation in Brazil.
This is FLYHT's first certification from Brazil and will allow the Company to proceed with its first AFIRS 228 Brazilian customer for 12 ATR-200 as announced in a press release on November 12, 2013. The certification was received in a timely manner because FLYHT was able to submit for validation the certification package previously approved by Transport Canada.
An STC constitutes regulatory approval to modify an aircraft's design while retaining airworthiness certification and is necessary to permit retrofit installation of aeronautical products such as AFIRS. FLYHT has STCs for 44 aircraft types for AFIRS 220 and 228 products. The Company continues to develop STCs for numerous other aircraft types.
AFIRS 228 is FLYHT's next-generation flagship product. It is designed to provide a fully certified avionics platform capable of meeting all air navigation communications requirements in Europe, the United States and other jurisdictions around the world. It also provides the input and outputs necessary to enhance the value of real-time data for FLYHT's customers globally. The AFIRS 228 will be the first safety services certified platform on the planet to provide black box data streaming via FLYHTStream(TM), FLYHT's patent pending solution.
