2Checkout Expands Payments Options for Klingon Merchants via Federation Partnership

Payments Processor Now Offers Localized Language and Currencies for Qo'noS Inhabitants

COLUMBUS, OH and QO'NOS -- (Marketwired) -- 04/01/14 -- 2Checkout, the leading online payments provider, today announced a new partnership with the United Federation of Planets that allows online retailers to accept Klingon currencies and provide automatic translation for any Klingon buyers on homeworld Qo'noS, as well as other planets including Krios Prime, Morska, Rura Penthe, and even the Qu'Vat colony.

The partnership concludes months of negotiations and testing with Klingon emissaries and merchants. Ambassador Worf, of Qo'noS, was instrumental in providing 2Checkout with the knowledge and tools necessary to enhance the checkout and payments experience for a new star system and population.

"It is our mission at 2Checkout to empower merchants with the capability to sell across any currency, language and payment method. Expanding across the universe to facilitate online commerce with Klingons was the logical next step," said Tom Daily, CEO of 2Checkout, who personally spearheaded the project. "Along with our recent additions of Swedish and Slovenian, including the Klingon language enables a whole new set of sellers to engage a market segment with trillions of members. The decision was as easy as pagh wiv, if I may say so."

Intergalactic merchants will be safe-guarded by the same anti-fraud protections that 2Checkout affords to domestic merchants, including photon-strength anti-fraud algorithms that can identify mirror universe imposters, Romulans, Borgs, and the occasional Tribble.

"My people needed a secure, smart, and easy way to trade with as many merchants in as many corners of the galaxy as possible," said Ambassador Worf, who also serves as Lieutenant Commander on USS Enterprise-D. "Do you realize what a nightmare it is to find a safe, guaranteed seller to obtain d'k tahg and Levodian flu vaccines when your home planet suffers a shortage? 2Checkout's payments technology makes the buying process a snap."

Online retailers can sell where they've never sold before by signing up for a free merchant account at: https://www.2checkout.com/signup.

A critical component of any IoT project is what to do with all the data being generated. This data needs to be captured, processed, structured, and stored in a way to facilitate different kinds of queries. Traditional data warehouse and analytical systems are mature technologies that can be used to handle certain kinds of queries, but they are not always well suited to many problems, particularly when there is a need for real-time insights.

Big Data engines are powering a lot of service businesses right now. Data is collected from users from wearable technologies, web behaviors, purchase behavior as well as several arbitrary data points we’d never think of. The demand for faster and bigger engines to crunch and serve up the data to services is growing exponentially. You see a LOT of correlation between “Cloud” and “Big Data” but on Big Data and “Hybrid,” where hybrid hosting is the sanest approach to the Big Data Infrastructure pro...

We all know the latest numbers: Gartner, Inc. forecasts that 6.4 billion connected things will be in use worldwide in 2016, up 30 percent from last year, and will reach 20.8 billion by 2020. We're rapidly approaching a data production of 40 zettabytes a day – more than we can every physically store, and exabytes and yottabytes are just around the corner. For many that’s a good sign, as data has been proven to equal money – IF it’s ingested, integrated, and analyzed fast enough. Without real-ti...

I wanted to gather all of my Internet of Things (IOT) blogs into a single blog (that I could later use with my University of San Francisco (USF) Big Data “MBA” course). However as I started to pull these blogs together, I realized that my IOT discussion lacked a vision; it lacked an end point towards which an organization could drive their IOT envisioning, proof of value, app dev, data engineering and data science efforts. And I think that the IOT end point is really quite simple…
