Orlando.com Creates Local and Social Recommendation Engine, Adding Business Directory to Offerings

Orlando.com Provides Businesses With a Tool to Increase Web Presence

ORLANDO, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 04/01/14 -- Orlando.com, the city guide and travel website for locals and visitors alike, today announced the launch of a new social and local business recommendation service. Orlando's more than 2.2 million residents and more than 50 million visitors to the world's most visited theme parks, will find that the local business directory offers a robust recommendation engine in addition to providing visitors with hotel and theme park ticket deals. Built to make local search results more localized, Orlando.com's business directory highlights local professional services, restaurants, retailers, medical professionals and law firms, to name a few.

"Because the domain is so visible and influential, we're more than your typical online business directory and can provide a level playing field for local businesses looking for a way to compete online," said Mahesh Chaddah, Co-Founder and CEO of Orlando.com. "In the past, competing with larger businesses was impossible given the sheer amount of content they produce on the web. This all changed with the focus on local search results. Having a strong online presence is vital in this digital age."

Access to view the directory is free. Business listings start at $9.99 per month ($99/year) and offer a full feature microsite with custom URL to showcase photos, printable coupon offers, products, reviews, social media activity, maps, and detailed information such as contact information, descriptions and other relevant details based on specific business category.

"Since more than 70 percent of searches are for local business services and products, and 59 percent of consumers use Google or Bing every month to locate a business, we'd say this focus on local search results is a win-win to connect consumers with businesses," Chaddah added. Business owners will find that Orlando.com offers increased control over a business' online presence than other directories, a boost in search engine optimization and exposure to a larger pool of prospective customers.

Last month, Orlando.com received more than 1.2 million page views. In addition, it experienced a $4 million gross revenue on tourism e-commerce from roughly 8,500 tourism product bookings. More than just the business directory, Orlando.com provides the city's tourists and residents with information about local attractions, allows them to book hotel rooms, offers deals on local merchandise and attraction tickets, and serves as a resource for general information about navigating the city.
