BOSTON, April 1, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bunker Hill Community College is proud to announce its recipients of the annual National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Awards. The awards recognize men and women each year who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment and contribution to their students and colleagues.
BHCC's 2014 honorees include Kiruba Murugaiah, Assistant Professor, Mathematics; Wissal Nouchrif, Assistant Professor, Business Administration; Liya N. Escalera, Director, Learning Communities; Arlene Vallie, Early Advantage Coordinator and Success Coach; and Anne K. Brown, Executive Director, Advising/Counseling and Assessment Center.
Excellence Award recipients will be celebrated during NISOD's annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, May 25-28, in Austin, Texas. The event, launched in 1989, has become the nation's largest annual gathering to honor the contributions and achievements of community and technical college faculty, administrators and staff.

Bunker Hill Community College is the largest community college in Massachusetts. The College enrolls more than 14,000 students on two campuses and at three satellite locations. BHCC is one of the most diverse institutions of higher education in Massachusetts. Sixty-seven percent of the students are people of color and more than half of BHCC's students are women. The College also enrolls more than 800 international students who come from approximately 100 countries and speak more than 75 languages.
