Gazzang Encryption and Key Management Solutions Achieve Cloudera 5 Certification

Gazzang, the big data security experts, today announced its high-performance encryption and key management solutions are now certified on Cloudera 5. A long-time Cloudera partner, Gazzang provides enterprise organizations with at-rest data security that exceeds compliance standards and is purpose-built for massively parallel big data architectures like Apache Hadoop. In addition to the certification, Gazzang also announced its certified data security solutions can be quickly and easily deployed via Cloudera Manager, enabling customers to extend security as their Hadoop investment grows.

Cloudera 5, launched earlier today, enables an enterprise data hub by making it economically viable and technically feasible for enterprises to keep all their data in a single, centralized platform, from which they can store, process, and analyze data in full fidelity, for a variety of enterprise workloads. Cloudera 5 delivers tight integration with existing enterprise data management systems, including key attributes to deliver robust security, governance, and data protection and management that enterprises require.

“We are pleased to see Gazzang certify on Cloudera 5 and enable customers to automate a big part of their security deployment,” said Tim Stevens, vice president of business and corporate development at Cloudera. “As organizations leverage the enterprise data hub capabilities in our latest release, data-at-rest security and key management will only increase in importance. This announcement means Cloudera customers can feel confident that Gazzang’s security solutions can seamlessly integrate, run at high performance and scale as business demand warrants.”

Gazzang zNcrypt™ provides transparent data encryption without requiring customers to modify their existing applications. The solution also includes process-based access controls to ensure only authorized system functions can gain access to the encrypted data. Gazzang zTrustee™ is a software-based key server that enables the data owner to set and enforce a variety of configurable policies around encryption key access. zTrustee can also protect and wrap policy around other digital security artifacts including SSH keys, SSL certificates, tokens and passwords.

“Cloudera continues to push the boundaries of what can be done with data, enabling companies to store, process and analyze unlimited amounts of information and applications from a single system,” said Sam Heywood, vice president of products and marketing at Gazzang. “This sensitive, business-critical data must be secured to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands and out of compliance. We look forward to expanding our partnership with Cloudera and bringing innovative data security services to our growing customer base.”
