Industry Leaders Including AppLift, Outfit7, Intel, and Yahoo Join European Board
Today the App Developers Alliance announced its first European Board. The Alliance is adding a Board and staff in Europe to better serve the app industry and the Alliance membership, which includes dozens of companies and nearly 8,000 developers working in Europe.
"The Alliance provides the app developer community with very valuable support and information all along the app's value chain, from idea and development to marketing and monetization. We are very happy to be part of the Alliance and look forward to helping further its mission," said Kaya Taner, CEO and Co-founder of AppLift.
The European Board includes:
- Jon Bradford, Techstars
- Ollie Clamp, Millennial Media
- Geoff Hollingworth, Ericsson
- Richard Hyndman, Google
- Ragnar Kruse, Smaato
- James Parton, Twilio
- Wolfgang Petersen, Intel
- Rich Preece, Intuit
- Eugene Stipp, Yahoo
- Kaya Taner, AppLift
- Rok Zorko, Outfit7
"Alliance activity in Europe will include developer-focused programming, education, business resources and policy advocacy," said Alliance President Jon Potter. "These are the cornerstones of Alliance success since our 2012 launch, and we are pleased that our European companies have urged our growth and invited our expansion."
In addition to representing its members on European industry and policy issues, the Alliance will bring a European focus to its workshops, research papers, and working groups. The Alliance is already establishing relationships with key organizations and coalitions that share a commitment to supporting the developer community and promoting growth in the app industry, for example the European Internet Foundation (EIF).
"As the app economy has a strong impact in Europe and globally, we think it is important to include among our members an association representing app developers," said Maria Rosa Gibellini, head of the EIF.
"The launch of the Alliance Board in Europe highlights how far the ecosystem has matured and the need to support developers in both small and large companies," said Jon Bradford, Managing Director, London for Techstars.
