Redondo Beach Cosmetic Dentist Offers Alternative Solution to Dental Insurance

Dr. Michael Fulbright Offers the Fulcare Dental Membership Plan, an Affordable, Reduced-Fee Monthly Preventive Care Plan for Patients Without Dental Insurance, and for Patients Seeking an Alternative to Their Current Insurance Plan

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/03/14 -- According to the California Healthcare Foundation, almost 40 percent of Californians do not have dental insurance, often making a visit to the dentist and access to necessary oral health care services an extreme financial burden. In many instances, patients without insurance forgo dental care for long periods of time -- years, in some cases. Dr. Michael Fulbright, a cosmetic dentist in Redondo Beach, says that providing affordable access to dental care for all patients is something that his practice places high importance on.

At Fulbright Cosmetic & Reconstructive Dentistry, Dr. Fulbright offers patients (both those with dental insurance and those without) the option of the FulCare Dental Membership Plan. Options include the Healthy Children Plan for children ages 12 and younger at $29.00 per month, and the Healthy Adult Plan for patients aged 13 and older at $39.00 per month. As February recently marked National Children's Dental Health month, Dr. Fulbright says he hopes the affordability of programs like Fulcare Dental Membership Plan will help demonstrate that obtaining oral health care for a child can be achieved in spite of the financial concerns a parent might face.

Both the Healthy Child Plan and the Healthy Adult Plan offer a comprehensive list of preventive dental care services, including:

  • Teeth cleanings
  • Doctor examinations
  • CariFree™ screening (cavity prevention)
  • Laser cavity detection
  • X-rays (if necessary)

Adult patients are also offered a second option, the Adult Perio Gum Care Plan, which emphasizes gum disease care in addition to the preventive care services. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost half of the U.S. adult population over age 30 suffer from some form of gum disease. However, if caught in time, gingivitis (the early stage of gum disease) can be improved and treated with good oral hygiene and regular professional cleanings, explains Dr. Fulbright. When a patient chooses the Adult Perio Gum Care Plan, they will have three to four periodontal maintenance cleanings, as well as subgingival irrigation treatment.

Another benefit of the program is that patients receive a 15 percent discount on the practice's cosmetic dentistry and elective dental services. This can include procedures such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, dental implants, and tooth-colored fillings. The discount can also cover some of the orthodontic treatment options at the practice, including teeth-straightening systems like Invisalign® and Six Month Smiles®.

For patients seeking an alternative to their current insurance plans, Dr. Fulbright says selecting the Fulcare Dental Membership Plan allows them the option of dental services without deductible fees, yearly maximums, or insurance company limitations. And for patients without dental insurance and those who are concerned about cost, Dr. Fulbright notes that many dentists offer payment plans and/or financing options, and he encourages patients to ask their dentist about more affordable alternatives. He says that good preventive care is essential to healthy teeth and gums, and at a minimum, patients should try and see a dentist at least twice a year for a cleaning and exam.
