Excel4apps Highlights How GL Wand Rescues Oracle Financial Users from Month-End Reporting Frustrations

Creating month-end financial reports from the Oracle E-Business Suite can be a challenge. To rescue users from frustration at month- or year-end closings, the GL Wand financial reporting tool employs a direct link to live Oracle data via a friendly Excel-based interface. Attendees of the Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) Collaborate 14 conference, held April 7-11 in Las Vegas, will have the opportunity to hear how organizations capitalize on this powerful, yet simple, solution from Excel4apps, a provider of best-in-class Excel-based inquiry and reporting software for use with ERP systems.

Excel4apps will showcase its flagship GL Wand financial reporting tool in Booth 1233 at The Venetian and Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Collaborate 14’s venue. Requiring no data warehouse and minimal IT support, GL Wand empowers users to create their own reports, which feature robust drill-down capabilities and on-demand refreshes with live data while preserving Excel formatting and formulas. The tool also leverages existing Oracle security settings.

In addition, Excel4apps will hold three education sessions at Collaborate 14:

  • “Excel-based Reporting Alternatives for E-Business Suite: An Excel4apps Interactive Workshop” is scheduled for 12-4 p.m., Monday, April 7. In this pre-conference workshop, BJ Lee and Gregg van der Westhuizen, solution specialists with Excel4apps, will share GL Wand best practices and provide a deeper look at Reports Wand and Budget Wand. Also, Marco Meirinho, Director of the Financial Operations Group for GFI Group, will discuss how GL Wand improved the brokerage firm’s decision-making and financial reporting from Oracle.
  • “Panel Chat: How Beats by Dr. Dre & Taconic Inc. Have Maximized E-Business Suite R12 Reporting in Excel” is scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8. In a panel discussion, actual users from Beats by Dr. Dre and Taconic Inc. share ideas on how to improve and streamline Oracle E-Business Suite R12 financial reporting with GL Wand.
  • “Unleash Seamless GL Reporting with Oracle Subledger Accounting” is scheduled for 9:45-10:45 a.m., Thursday, April 10. Gregg van der Westhuizen will lead this session on gaining flexible reporting capabilities from Oracle without extensive IT programming involvement.

“We look forward to sharing optimal techniques for using our products, and to demonstrating how our customers save countless hours by streamlining financial reporting and budgeting processes with them,” said Chris Meyer, President, Excel4apps Americas & Europe. “The more our customers use our products, the more applications they find for them, which we’ll discuss at Collaborate 14.”

GL Wand is an Oracle Validated Integration solution, and Excel4apps is a Gold-level member in Oracle PartnerNetwork and a 5-Star OAUG partner.

“All our customers are looking at the cloud ecosystem as an important part of their overall product strategy. Any Ops team trying to support a company in today’s cloud-connected world knows that a new way of thinking is required – one just as dramatic than the shift from Ops to DevOps. The diversity of modern operations requires teams to focus their impact on breadth vs. depth. The IoT market is on track to hit $7.1 trillion in 2020. The reality is that only a handful of companies are ready for this massive demand. There are a lot of barriers, paint points, traps, and hidden roadblocks. How can we deal with these issues and challenges? The paradigm has changed. Old-style ad-hoc trial-and-error ways will certainly lead you to the dead end. What is mandatory is an overarching and adaptive approach to effectively handle the rapid changes and exponential growth.
DevOps has often been described in terms of CAMS: Culture, Automation, Measuring, Sharing. While we’ve seen a lot of focus on the “A” and even on the “M”, there are very few examples of why the “C" is equally important in the DevOps equation. In her session at @DevOps Summit, Lori MacVittie, of F5 Networks, will explore HTTP/1 and HTTP/2 along with Microservices to illustrate why a collaborative culture between Dev, Ops, and the Network is critical to ensuring success.
Between the compelling mockups and specs produced by analysts, and resulting applications built by developers, there exists a gulf where projects fail, costs spiral, and applications disappoint. Methodologies like Agile attempt to address this with intensified communication, with partial success but many limitations. In his session at DevOps Summit, Charles Kendrick, CTO and Chief Architect at Isomorphic Software, will present a revolutionary model enabled by new technologies. Learn how busine...
Today’s connected world is moving from devices towards things, what this means is that by using increasingly low cost sensors embedded in devices we can create many new use cases. These span across use cases in cities, vehicles, home, offices, factories, retail environments, worksites, health, logistics, and health. These use cases rely on ubiquitous connectivity and generate massive amounts of data at scale. These technologies enable new business opportunities, ways to optimize and automate, al...

IT data is typically silo'd by the various tools in place. Unifying all the log, metric and event data in one analytics platform stops finger pointing and provides the end-to-end correlation. Logs, metrics and custom event data can be joined to tell the holistic story of your software and operations. For example, users can correlate code deploys to system performance to application error codes.
In his session at DevOps Summit, Bryan Cantrill, CTO at Joyent, will demonstrate a third path: containers on multi-tenant bare metal that maximizes performance, security, and networking connectivity.
