NEW YORK, April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The scramble to develop cleaner fuel sources for transportation is heating up. HydroPhi Technologies Group, Inc. (OTCQB: HPTG) designs and develops water-based technology as a fuel additive for automotive and other forms of transportation. The company offers hydrogen fuel assist devices for an internal combustion engine and method that uses a proton exchange membrane electrolyzer cell as a means to separate hydrogen and oxygen from the water molecule.
By 2025, CAFE regulations will require carmakers' vehicles to operate at an average of 54.5 miles per gallon. Electric vehicles will not have progressed to affordability by that point. In the interim, auto manufacturers will have to improve the efficiency of combustion engines. Efficiency advances are easier with diesel engines rather than gasoline engines. HPTG may have the technology that auto makers might be turning toward.
