GL Precision Enhances Customer Collaboration with Ariba

Business is all about connections. But linking to customers can be a challenge. With multiple systems and data formats to manage, even the simplest tasks – such as sending orders and invoices - can become time consuming and complicated. And for smaller enterprises, this can be crippling. But it doesn’t have to be. GL Precision, a supplier of high precision mechanical components and assembled modules, for instance is leveraging the Ariba® Network to connect and collaborate with its customers in new and innovative ways that drive competitive advantage. That’s because although the company was issuing purchase orders and invoices electronically from its ERP system, it often had to re-enter them into the systems of its customers – or even call them in by phone.

“It was very time consuming and we found that not all of them were being received,” said Swinkels. “The result was a lack of transparency which made it increasingly difficult to manage the processes.”

And then one of its customers invited GL Precision to join the Ariba Network, an open trading platform through which companies can discover, connect and collaborate – regardless of the backend systems they are using.

The company quickly connected its ERP system - the SAP® Business One application - to the network using a simple integration adapter and enabled a completely automated order and invoicing process that is both more transparent and collaborative.

As a result of the move, GL Precision is able to create and send purchase orders and corresponding invoices directly from SAP Business One to customers on the Ariba Network without any manual intervention. And this has led to:
