Conn. Technology Council Picks Woven Orthopedic Technologies CEO for Women of Innovation® Entrepreneurial Innovation and Leadership Award

MANCHESTER, Conn., April 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ilana Odess, chief executive officer and founder of Woven Orthopedic Technologies, has been presented the top award for Entrepreneurial Innovation and Leadership by The Connecticut Technology Council at its 2014 Women of Innovation Awards dinner March 27 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington, Conn.

The 10th Anniversary of Women of Innovation® Awards dinner concluded its decade of activity by celebrating some of Connecticut's most innovative female minds for outstanding accomplishments in science, engineering, technology research, information technology, business analytics, technology education, and mathematics.

The Connecticut Technology Council reviewed over 175 nominations this year and extended awards to women in 8 categories of innovation and leadership: Youth, Collegiate, Community, Research, Academia, Entrepreneurship, Small Business, and Large Business.

The Council cited Ms. Odess for several noteworthy achievements, including founding three businesses acquired by multi-billion dollar medical device companies, and forming the first Johnson & Johnson operating division in Israel.

She is a recognized expert in leading companies from concept to clinical application and has successfully negotiated and executed over 30 worldwide distribution and strategic partner agreements (Europe, APAC, and South America) and assisted in raising more than $110 million from private investors, venture capitalists, and institutions.
