LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), also called as the liquid crystal panel, belongs to the flat ultrathin display device, which is composed by the certain quantities of color or monochrome pixels and is placed in front of the light source or reflective surface. It's the most key component of LCD monitors.

China's mainland has become the global major manufacturer of LCD monitors. Up to now, the output of China's LCD has ranked the world second, the products of which cover three types of TN, STN and TFT, among which, the output of TN/STN-LCD accounts for more than 90% of the world output. And the production technology of TN/STN panel is mature with relatively strong competitive advantages in the international market. In terms of TFT-LCD, the industrial technology has been grasped by continuously strengthening R & D investment and promoting the independent innovation; at present, the 8 and 8.5 generation production lines of BOE, LGD TCL have been put into the mass production, which are mainly used in the LCD TV field. The Chinese domestic LCD production force is springing up, in next three to five years, China's is expected to become the global largest LCD production base, which is favorable to the upstream and downstream integration development of domestic color TV industry. With the development of domestic technology and effective release of production capacity, the shipments of TFT-LCD panel are expected to grow greatly in next few years.

The LCD demand volume has close relationship with the consumption improvement of the downstream application market. At present, the downstream demand of China's LCD is mainly concentrated in the consumer products of electronic audio and video, such as laptops, mobile phones and so on. With the continuous growth of people's consumption level, the market consumption volume of laptops, mobile phones and other products will yearly increase, which brings huge development space to the LCD market. It is predicted that the market demand volume of LCD will continuously increase in next few years and China's market demand volume will reach 3,800 million pieces by 2017.
