Infoblox Announces Support for XenServer Open-Source Virtualization By Delivering a Virtual Appliance for Network Control

Infoblox Inc. (NYSE:BLOX), the automated network control company, today introduced Infoblox Virtual Appliance Software for XenServer, bringing the full range of Infoblox enterprise-grade network control technologies to the open-source XenServer virtualization platform.

The industry-leading portfolio of Infoblox products deliver critical network services such as DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management (IPAM) – a category called DDI – that improve network agility, reduce operating costs and increase network security and reliability.

Infoblox provides its DDI solution through multiple form factors: 1) as a physical appliance with its Trinzic® line of products; 2) as a virtual appliance on Cisco and Riverbed networking hardware; and 3) as a virtual appliance on the three leading server virtualization hypervisors – VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V and now XenServer, which became a free open-source project in June 2013.

Infoblox virtual appliance software for the VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V and XenServer platforms gives network managers uncompromised DDI on their virtual server platform of choice, with features that include:

  • Integrated DDI: Industry-leading integrated DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management in one resilient solution to simplify delivery of these critical network services.
  • Single Pane of Glass Management: Centralized management of all Infoblox DDI appliances, whether physical or virtual, from one common user interface, with a single database for all network data.
  • Advanced Discovery: Fully automated and configurable layer 2 and layer 3 network device discovery integrated with IPAM, providing visibility to every device connected to the network along with its IP, DNS and DHCP history.
  • Secured DNS: Unique DHCP device identification “fingerprinting” to easily block rogue devices; and DNS Firewall for malware protection, including optional integration with FireEye, to help prevent DNS-based malware callbacks to known bad domains and domains tied to zero-day threats.
