LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/15/14 -- TENTEN Wilshire, a downtown Los Angeles apartments complex that has been steadily changing the face of the Hollywood luxury living circuit, played host to the L.A. Startup Night & Mixer on April 4. The movers and shakers behind the event -- designed to facilitate the growth of the L.A. Chinese startup community -- consisted of Zhejiang Jiangong Real Estate Development Group (JREG), U.S. Zhejiang Commerce & Culture Association, Amidi Group and NPO PlusYoou, with more than 200 entrepreneurs and investors in attendance for in-depth discussions on a variety of topics including the advantages of the L.A. startup community and ecosystem, globalization of L.A. startups and inculcators and opportunities for increasing new immigrants' startups in Los Angeles.
Over the past few years in particular, startup activities in Los Angeles have gained increasing momentum courtesy of an influx of technical talents, capital, accelerators and incubators. As such, this has made L.A. a hotbed for international startups, with the city attracting an increasing number of international entrepreneurs looking to start their businesses in Los Angeles.
"Los Angeles has ranked as one of the top three startup ecosystems in the world, with over one billion angel and VC investments in 2013," says Jennifer Zhang, COO of PlusYoou. "With an advanced startup ecosystem and the cutting-edge advantages for industries of entertainment, media and technology, more Chinese entrepreneurs will consider Los Angeles as their top choice to start their business."
"The opportunity that Chinese entrepreneurs bring to Los Angeles is enormous," adds Rahim Amidi, the Founding General Partner of Amidi Group. "Chinese investors are beginning to see more value in downtown L.A., and this lavish event held at the gorgeous TENTEN (Wilshire), which focused on Los Angeles startup ecosystems from Silicon Valley, also provided more opportunities for U.S. local startups to gain access to China's resources. Simply put, it was a win-win."
Amidi also says that both sides of entrepreneurs need a platform to connect, and believes that this platform should be able to assist with access to local market, talents and technology.
"In Los Angeles, an increasing number of incubation centers are developing partnerships with related Chinese organizations," says Lottie Li, Vice General Manager of Zhejiang Jiangong. "In so doing, startups from both groups will benefit from sharing resources from both the U.S. and China to meet the increasing demand of globalization from startups."
Representatives of the Real Estate Development Group mentioned its plan for inviting several U.S. incubators to settle in its new Euro-America Financial City (EFC) project, designed to "create a real entrepreneurial environment in the city" instead of merely providing a "place for people to work and stay."
Henry Shi, CEO of PlusYoou, agrees with Amidi and concludes: "Having a strong platform to connect and leverage the resources in both the U.S. and China could help to accelerate the business for both sides of the startup game. To help solve this problem, we are developing a non-profit startup incubation program -- known as '+U' -- to facilitate cooperation and interaction between entrepreneurs and investors from the U.S. and China."

Digital Transformation is the ultimate goal of cloud computing and related initiatives. The phrase is certainly not a precise one, and as subject to hand-waving and distortion as any high-falutin' terminology in the world of information technology. Yet it is an excellent choice of words to describe what enterprise IT—and by extension, organizations in general—should be working to achieve. Digital Transformation means: handling all the data types being found and created in the organizat...
