The dramatic rise of mobile games in Asia’s biggest markets is poised to fuel growth in the gaming industry for years to come, and Obscene Interactive, the gaming division of OBJ Enterprises (OTCBB: OBJE), is preparing to capitalize.
Pocket Gamer reported earlier this month that gaming investment group Digi-Capital predicts that the mobile and online segment of the industry will grow to a market value of almost $60 billion by 2017 from only $15 billion in 2011. That would be a compound annual growth rate of 24 percent.
That incredible growth is being driven by an explosion in the mobile gaming markets in China, Japan and South Korea, where consumers are shifting from PC client games to mobile.
“It’s very clear where the hottest growth is happening in our industry,” said OBJE CEO Paul Watson. “In order to capture a share of the world’s biggest growth markets in mobile gaming, games will have to be tailored to these specific Asian marketplaces.”
In order to capitalize on market growth in Asia, OBJE is working to license and develop innovative new gaming titles with a mass appeal that transcends language and culture barriers. Most recently, the company licensed the hit mobile game Pac-Ball from developer Corv Studios. The game has racked up more than 1.5 million downloads since its release, and OBJE is developing new marketing and optimization strategies to maximize the title's revenues moving forward.
Through its gaming division, Obscene Interactive, OBJE is working to deliver many more innovative gaming products for the global marketplace alongside companies such as Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ: GLUU) and The9 Limited (NASDAQ: NCTY).
