Vonage Launches Consumer VoIP Service in Brazil

Offers include unlimited calling to landlines anywhere in Brazil

HOLMDEL, N.J., April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Vonage Holdings Corp. (NYSE: VG), a leading provider of communications services connecting people through cloud-connected devices worldwide, today announced the initial launch of service in Brazil as part of its joint venture with Datora Telecom.

Vonage is offering consumers in select markets in Brazil unlimited calling to landlines throughout the country for a low flat monthly rate. Vonage customers can also make calls to mobiles in Brazil at low, fixed per-minute rates, regardless of the network or time of day, offering savings of up to 50% compared to leading providers.

Vonage is focused on meeting consumer demand for phone service that delivers transparent pricing and a positive customer service experience. Included with the core offering is a localized Vonage app that allows customers to use their home calling plans to place calls from their smartphones at no additional cost.

Vonage also offers very competitive international long distance value. With Vonage, calls to the U.S. and other top destinations are more than 80% lower than major competitors.

Brazil represents a substantial market opportunity with 22 million of its 67 million households already broadband connected. The government supports a pro-consumer regulatory environment and is committed to expanding broadband access in advance of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics. The country is home to more than a million expats and has a vibrant small business community. 

As part of its planned phased rollout, Vonage will initially market its services in Curitiba and Brasilia and will rapidly expand to additional markets over the next several months. The Company will use television, print and digital marketing that emphasizes the key benefits of its service for Brazilians – simplicity, transparency and mobility at competitive prices. Advertising will use the new selling line – Nao existe longa distancia (there is no long distance), which reinforces the elimination of both physical and emotional distance for loved ones.
