MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 04/17/14 -- Post-trauma Foundation launches its "Share the Burden" campaign with the goal of raising funds to complete PTSD.org; a bilingual, social support network for military, first responders, and the general public living with the burden of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Support is also available for the loved ones of those living with the condition.
PTSD.org aims to inform, educate and build a community around this common disorder and assist victims who often live in isolation. Post-trauma Foundation is appealing to the general public for financial contributions in order to launch PTSD.org. The Share the Burden video includes a call to action, leading the viewer to an internationally renowned and reliable crowdfunding platform, Indiegogo. "Perks" such as an autographed book entitled, "Shake Hands with the Devil", by Lt. Gen. (Retired), The Honorable, Romeo A. Dallaire, are offered in return.
PTSD has become a global health issue; in North America alone, 1 out of 10 suffer from PTSD.
With a very active community of nearly 6000 Twitter followers and 3000 pre-registrants, PTSD.org has demonstrated the need for a safe online community providing support to those dealing with PTSD in their lives.
Set to launch in time for PTSD Awareness Day, June 27, 2014, PTSD.org offers:
-- A medical steering committee to oversee PTSD.org -- PTSD therapists offering expert advice -- Trained peer supporters to help others via chat, InMail, & online calls -- Breaking news -- Interactive PTSD learning center -- Topical interviews by thought leaders -- Discussion groups -- Live chat between members -- Rewards for most active members -- Peer supporter training for those wanting to help, fundraising events, and more...
All can be part of shaping a future where PTSD is better understood and accepted by contributing to PTSD.org's crowdfunding campaign.
