Bill Halter was the 14th Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas and Deputy Commissioner of the Social Security Administration. Bill Halter has served on the boards of directors of ten technology companies in diverse industries and on the Board of Trustees of Stanford University. Halter provides extensive experience in managing complex enterprises and will help guide Picasolar as it moves from lab to market.
"Picasolar is a great example of Arkansas entrepreneurs competing in global markets; I look forward to helping the company transition from technical progress to business growth," said Halter. Picasolar Board Chairman Dr. Terry Tremwel added, "Picasolar is poised to have a significant impact on the solar industry and Bill will play an important role in reaching our potential."
"Bill is a tremendous addition to the board and complements the other members perfectly," said CEO Dr. Douglas Hutchings. "Picasolar's technology represents a big step towards making solar one of the most cost effective energy sources. In recent months we have hit several key milestones and Bill's background will be extremely beneficial as the company continues to grow and add jobs."
Solar PV energy production in the U.S. has increased 500 times (50,000%) from 16 GWH to 8,325 GWH in the six years from 2007 to 2013, according to the United States Energy Information Agency. Picasolar's breakthrough technology represents a key innovation in the fastest-growing segment of the fastest-growing energy source in the world. Worldwide, solar PV module sales are expected to top $36 Billion in 2014.
About Picasolar, Inc.
Picasolar is an Arkansas-based organization with an award winning Solar Photovoltaic (PV) technology to enhance the efficiency of n-type solar cells in a single, post-manufacturing step that also reduces the need for silver. N-type silicon is the fastest-growing segment of the Solar PV industry because it displays greatly reduced degradation in performance relative to p-type silicon over time. Since winning a prestigious US DOE SunShot Award in 2013, Picasolar is working with leading researchers at Georgia Tech and leading equipment manufacturer Meyer Burger to bring our patent-pending technology to market within the next two years.
