SANTA ANA, Calif., April 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TIMCO CNG is hosting a grand opening and ribbon cutting for its first public-access Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station on Earth Day, April 22, 2014. The Orange County station located at 1601 E 1st Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701 will provide consumer and fleet drivers of natural gas vehicles (NGVs) a convenient fueling option between Los Angeles and San Diego.
"We are thrilled to be adding vital infrastructure to the City of Santa Ana which will offer Southern California drivers the opportunity to use CNG as a transportation fuel. CNG is cleaner, cheaper, domestically produced, and provides access to the car pool lane," said Timothy Nelligan, CEO of TIMCO CNG. "This CNG station is publicly accessible and conveniently located less than ¼-mile from Interstate-5 on E First Street. We will offer a positive fueling experience with low prices, well lit canopies and music at the dispensers."
TIMCO CNG was founded by Timothy Nelligan and Jonah Schnel in 2012 as a privately-funded venture with the intent to expand the availability of alternative fuels. "TIMCO CNG is confident that building alternative fuel infrastructure will increase public awareness of the viability and significant benefits of using natural gas as a transportation fuel," said Jonah Schnel, Managing Member of TIMCO CNG.
TIMCO CNG plans to offer competitive fuel prices to attract the existing NGVs as well as encourage motorists to convert or replace gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles with cleaner burning NGVs that help improve air quality in the Southern California. NGVs emit 97% less carbon monoxide, 95% less particulate matter, 87% less nitrogen oxides, and up to 25% less carbon emissions than equivalent diesel vehicles.
This new TIMCO CNG station was awarded a grant from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC), an organization within the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), that provides Clean Transportation Funding to projects in the South Coast air basin. The MSRC collects Clean Transportation Funding from a $4 surcharge on vehicle license fees and disperses funds to projects designed to reduce air pollution from mobile sources.
