MINNEAPOLIS, April 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Corporate compliance and ethics play a central and critical role in today's business. The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) have designated May 4 – 10, 2014, as the 10th annual Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week. This week-long observation provides companies in all parts of the globe the opportunity to spotlight their code of conduct and underscore compliance and ethics' obligations with employees. It also promotes doing so in concert with other companies. Since it was launched in 2005, Corporate Compliance & Ethics Week has been celebrated more than 1,500 times.
"The purpose of Corporate Compliance and Ethics week is twofold. Within organizations it provides an opportunity to highlight an organizational commitment to operating lawfully and ethically," said SCCE and HCCA CEO Roy Snell. "Secondly, by having so many companies participate, employees can better see that they are a part of a much wider commitment to compliance and ethics."
New training programs, policies and procedures, and codes of conduct are often introduced during Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week. Events meant to foster compliance and ethics awareness and understanding are often held.
"Compliance and ethics are a 52-week-a-year commitment. But Corporate Compliance and Ethics Week provides a means to bring added focus both within an organization and around the world," said Snell.
